Hyundai Motor Company introduced the all-new ELEXIO in October 2025, expanding its electric vehicle lineup with a fully electric midsize SUV built on the dedicated E-GMP platform.
Combining a bold design with advanced technology and family-oriented practicality, ELEXIO features an 88.1 kWh battery, delivering an impressive driving range of up to 722 km (CLTC). Its interior is equipped with a 27-inch ultra-thin 4K widescreen display powered by a Qualcomm 8295 chip, while DC fast charging can replenish the battery from 30 to 80 percent in approximately 27 minutes.
The model also offers a spacious 506-liter luggage compartment, expandable to 1,540 liters, and a comprehensive range of intelligent comfort and safety technologies.
Hyundai ELEXIO Earns Maximum Five-Star ANCAP Rating
Hyundai Motor Company’s all-new ELEXIO electric midsize SUV has achieved the highest possible five-star safety rating from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP).
ANCAP conducts independent safety assessments under testing protocols aligned with European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) standards, widely regarded as among the industry's most rigorous safety evaluation frameworks.
Under ANCAP’s 2023–2025 assessment criteria, ELEXIO demonstrated a high level of protection for adult and child occupants, as well as strong performance in safeguarding vulnerable road users.
What Makes ELEXIO Safe?
ELEXIO’s safety performance is supported by a comprehensive suite of standard Hyundai SmartSense™ driver assistance and advanced active-safety technologies.
Key safety features include:
- Nine Airbags: A standard nine-airbag system, including a front center airbag and extended side curtain airbags for additional occupant protection.
- Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2.0 (FCA 2.0): Detects vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists and powered two-wheelers, with braking intervention support in complex situations such as junction crossings and reversing.
- Lane Keeping Assist (LKA): Monitors lane positioning and provides steering assistance to help the driver maintain the vehicle within its lane.
- Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA): Monitors rear-side areas and provides alerts and braking intervention when necessary to help prevent collisions during lane changes.
- Family-Focused Safety: Precisely tuned suspension and braking systems, including Family Brake Mode, designed to improve vehicle stability, passenger comfort and driver confidence.
- Advanced Body Structure: A 720-degree armored body structure featuring 77.5 percent high-strength steel content, engineered to provide enhanced occupant protection.
How Did ELEXIO Perform in Safety Testing?
Under ANCAP’s independent evaluation, ELEXIO demonstrated strong performance across key safety assessment categories:
- Adult Occupant Protection: Strong performance in frontal and side-impact scenarios, supported by effective structural integrity and a center airbag designed to reduce occupant-to-occupant interaction.
- Child Occupant Protection: Good protection for 6- and 10-year-old child dummies, with ISOFIX and top tether anchorages available across rear seating positions.
- Vulnerable Road User Protection: Effective detection and response to pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists, including in complex turning situations.
- Safety Assist: Comprehensive active safety technologies, including Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Support and Speed Assistance systems, performed strongly across critical test scenarios.
The five-star ANCAP rating reinforces Hyundai Motor’s commitment to delivering advanced safety technologies and high levels of occupant protection across its expanding electric vehicle lineup.
